George Bischof
Managing Director
George Bischof joined Meritech as a Managing Director in 2008. He focuses primarily on SaaS and cloud infrastructure software, data center and enterprise infrastructure, storage and consumer Internet services companies.George is all about outsized returns without the outsized ego.
George has led or oversees the firm's investments in BigFix (IBM), Box, ExtraHop, Fusion-io (FIO), hybris, Model N (MODN), Springsource (VMW) and Yapstone. Prior to Meritech, George spent eight years as a General Partner with Focus Ventures where his investments included: EqualLogic (DELL), Extricity (PRGN), G-Log (ORCL), Isilon Systems (ISLN/EMC), QuinStreet (QNST) and Wily Technology (CA).
Previously, George worked in Robertson Stephens’ technology investment banking group for nine years where he led portions of the firm’s e-commerce, software, and hardware/systems banking practices. George helped more than 60 companies raise over $4.5 billion in public equity offerings and private placement transactions. Notable clients included: BEA Systems, Bindview, Broadvision, Concur Technologies, Epiphany, Genesys Labs, i2 Technologies, JD Edwards, Peregrine Systems, Portal Software, QAD and Siebel Systems.
George holds a B.A. from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He enjoys spending time with his family and is still getting used to the notion that the culture at his home now spans the wide range from Green Day to Green Eggs and Ham. George and his family can often be found on the weekends on various slopes, trails, courts and playing fields. George is on the Boards of Eastside College Preparatory School, a school founded by his brother for first generation college bound students, as well as Crystal Springs Uplands School, where George attended high school.
