Rob Ward

Rob Ward was a founder of Meritech in 1999. His current areas of investment interest include Big Data, cloud computing, Saas, security and online consumer services.

He led the firm's successful investments in Acclarent (JNJ), BigFix (IBM), Cornerstone OnDemand (CSOD), Counterpane (BT), Fortinet (FTNT), Greenplum (EMC), Imperva (IMPV), Netezza (IBM), NetSuite (N), PopCap Games (ERTS), Quigo (AOL), Reliant (SLTM) and Zipcar (ZIP). He is currently a board member or observer with AudienceScience, Cloudera, Cornerstone OnDemand, Forescout, Proofpoint, Rally Software, Tableau Software and Veracode.
Rob joined Meritech from Montgomery Securities where he was a principal in the Private Equity Group, raising late stage capital for private information technology companies such as Citysearch, CommQuest, Total Entertainment Network, Vastera and Vixel. Prior to joining Montgomery, Rob was with Smith Barney in the New York and San Francisco Corporate Finance Departments.
Rob received a B.A. degree from Williams College and a M.S. degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and currently serves as an algebra tutor at Eastside College Preparatory School in East Palo Alto, California. When Rob isn't chasing after his three kids, he is usually running, skiing, hiking, playing a horrendous Bass guitar or daydreaming about the alternate, appropriate ending to Super Bowl XXV.
