Meritech Capital Partners was founded in 1999 in partnership with Accel Partners, Oak Investment Partners, Redpoint Ventures and Worldview Technology Partners. Investment Strategy
Meritech's strategy is to lead investments in later stage information and medical technology companies from primarily leading early stage venture capital portfolios. Meritech targets investment opportunities in traditional growth companies as well as lead co-investments in corporate buy-outs and spin-offs alongside other technology investors. Meritech typically looks for the following attributes:

Areas of Focus
Meritech invests in technology companies in the areas of Communications, Software and Services, Enterprise Infrastructure, Semiconductors and Components, Consumer Internet and Media and Medical Devices. The firm has invested in several category defining companies including 2Wire, Acclarent, BigBand Networks, Facebook, Force10 Networks, Fortinet, Intralase, Netezza, NetSuite, Salesforce.com, Tele Atlas and Vonage Holdings Corporation.
Global Perspective
Meritech is aware that attractive investment opportunities are not limited to the United States and will continue to pursue a strategy of investing internationally in appropriate later stage companies. Recent portfolio investments include companies that are headquartered in or have significant international operations in China, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, the Philippines, the Netherlands and Israel.
Capital Under Management
Meritech manages more than $2.2 billion in committed venture capital. The bulk of our capital comes from university endowments, pension funds, fund-of-funds and charitable foundations.
Investment Size
Meritech investments range in size from $5 to $25 million. Typically, we invest $5 to $15 million initially and can invest up to $40 million over the life of a company.
Value Added Investment Partner to Portfolio Companies
Meritech seeks to be a business partner for its portfolio companies. We regularly provide introductions to other Meritech portfolio companies as well as to other outside industry contacts for specific portfolio company needs. As a late stage investor, we provide guidance to our portfolio companies on issues specific to rapidly maturing, private companies including management incentive plans, IPO market timing and positioning, adviser selection, and post-IPO ownership transition.
