Joel Backman joined Meritech Capital from IPWireless, Inc., and is Vice President and Chief Financial Officer responsible for all investment execution, financial reporting, investor relations and other operating and administrative functions.
Prior to a Senior Director Business Development role at IPWireless, Joel was Vice President of Finance and Co-Founder of Ultimate, Inc., an entertainment marketplace established with International Management Group (IMG) and SFX Inc., now owned by ClearChannel Communications, Inc. Prior to Ultimate, Inc., Joel held multiple senior financial management positions at Sunterra Corporation in both California and Europe. Joel started his career at KPMG and is a licensed certified public accountant.
He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Arizona with an emphasis in Finance and Accounting.
