Prior to Meritech, Tanner was an investment banker at Qatalyst Partners, where he advised enterprise software, consumer internet, and semiconductor companies on M&A and strategic alternatives. While at Qatalyst, Tanner advised Datto on its $6.2B sale to Kaseya, SurveyMonkey on its $1.5B sale to Symphony Technology Group, Lucid on its $1.1B cross-border sale to Cint, Western Digital on its $900M investment from Apollo Global Management and Elliott Management, and Western Digital on its standstill agreement with Elliott Management. Tanner previously worked at Citadel, where he led the migration across data analytics software vendors within one of Citadel's business units.
Tanner is a New York City native and graduated cum laude from the University of Chicago with a B.A. in economics. Tanner currently serves as an Associate Board member at Minds Matter San Francisco.
